Installing HP Laserjet 1020 on Ubuntu

$ sudo apt-get install build-essential
$ wget -O foo2zjs.tar.gz http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/foo2zjs.tar.gz
$ tar -zxvf foo2zjs.tar.gz
$ cd foo2zjs
$ sudo make uninstall
$ make
$ ./getweb 1020
$ sudo make install install-hotplug cups

If it doesn’t work yet, try the following command.

$ sudo cat /usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1020.dl > /dev/usb/lp0

You have to do the last step every time you want to print something.

Restart with the Ubuntu disk in the drive and the machine should boot into the Ubuntu installation shell. If you would like to configure a static IP address, select F6 - Other Options and enter netcfg/disable_dhcp=true at the end of the options string, and the install script will prompt you for network information during the installation.
